The Hobbit: Brothers by MorbusParkinson The Hobbit: Brothers by MorbusParkinson
Finally I can upload the first previews of my Fili costume. :iconbjey04: and I have been planning to make our dwarf costumes for a while now and have been able to at least come up with the concept arts (the 'light version' for now). It will take us a while to add the other parts, but we'll put our costumes together step by step.
At Connichi 2013 in Kassel last sunday we took the oportunity to just try it out. I still have to work on the beard and the wig because they're not perfect, yet. But it was a good idea to try out what it feels like with a fake beard for a whole day (and hell it was itchy as f......).

It was so much fun. And look at my cute bro... how sweet he's laughing <3

I am a little unpatient to see the result, too. But first things first: Money, time Dx

Guuh, that's the worst things to wait for when you're motivated to get working on a costume!
But I totally understand the feel.

Absolutely. There is nothing I hate more than 'having to make a costume' I had been interested in weeks ago but hadn't had the time or money then. Although noone forces me to do it. But somehow just giving up on it feels like failing at it and that... results in pure frustration.
I try to keep my schedule as close as possible to my recent interests.
But it is really difficult to be motivated for the dwarf costumes ALL the time... because it needs more than just a week of attention. I think the new movie in winter will motivate me to the max again though :D!

Oh gosh, you put words on every cosplayers problem! I've run into that feeling sooooo many times, when I was just sick of the cosplay, even before I actually finished. And It just sucks, also having to START a cosplay when you're so over the feels for it.
I've done that the whole last year almost, so the coming year is my 'year of characters I want to and am able to cosplay NOW', with very few set plans-

Oooh most definitely! You just need to get back on that sexual Fili-Horse! ohohoho

YES YOU ARE SO DAMN RIGHT!
The thing I hate MOST about cosplaying is to get STARTED. It happened TOO OFTEN that I had all the material gathered but I just couldn't start. There is nothing I hate more about making costumes than to start drawing the pattern, cutting the fabric and making the first absolutely BORING seams. It is only when you can really 'wear' it for the first time and it looks like a piece of clothing when I get the feeling for it and I start being glad that half of the work is almost done. I really hate all the 'raw' work. You know... sewing pieces of fabric together, placings the arms, making some tucks and all that stuff. What I really enjoy making are the details like sewing colorful patterns onto something or frills etc. Haha and then I start hating teh last finishing touches when already feel like it is done and nothing can go wrong anymore but there are still some little things to do like cutting off all the threads that are still showing etc. Sometimes I am so afraid to fail at it when I plan to make a costume that the fear kind of... paralyzes me even.
The most disturbing thing is: The easier something is to make... the more it bores me and I don't feel motivated to do it because I KNOW it could be done very qucikly. Like... pants. I sew pants in somthing about an hour... but before I procrastinate as much as possible |D

I have decided to only do what I feel like for the moment since last year. It results in 'less costumes' but therefor things I really love. Like the Rashi costume I did recently. I have never seriously thought about cosplaying it until I got really excited about a series I loved 10 years ago (you know that flash of nostalgic feelings taht sometimes hits you). And I gathered all the material very quickly and was really motivated so it was much more fun. And that's the main point about cosplay, right? Having fun with it. Although set plans can't be avoided sometimes when it is a very huge project.

Sexual Fili horse, haha, that sounds like the title of an awful porn movie 8DDD
